It is human to need some help at times to figure something out as life brings challenges It can be valuable to turn to a partner or trusted friend in those times and feel better afterwards. However, some issues require a more professional help, with more objectivity and confidentiality.  You could have a current problem demanding more reflection, a dilemma you need to fully understand, or an issue you know needs more attention because of its complexity or the length time you have carried it.  I am here to support you when you need that extra help.  I help you understand yourself better and guide you to a better balanced life with a new way of thinking.  Talking to someone qualified can offer clarity in the chaos. Putting into words your thoughts, feelings and emotions without being judged  can feel liberating. I see my role of therapist as one of guidance and assistance to respond to challenges in a workable way  for a  meaningful life.  Express your frustrations, Let go of resentment, Release emotions, Uncover hidden pains holding you back! The sessions are broken with practices, tools and techniques you will be able to use long after therapy.

You have decided to be healthier to prevent a condition, to simply feel better or to manage an existing metabolic issue. You likely already know what to do such as changing your eating habits or undertake more physical exercises, but it is often difficult to apply that knowledge in your life. You may have tried before without improvement, or the results achieved may not have been long lasting.  It is possible that while you have concentrated on goals, you likely have not made the mental switch for the long-term change. Together we can review obstacles to your progress, and we identify positive ways to change unhealthy behaviours. I use a holistic approach in helping you to attain your goals by looking at the whole of you from your beliefs, your emotions, your self-esteem and confidence but also your motivation, your relationships, your physical activities and the quality of your breathing and sleep.

You are free to choose your own diet. I am not a weight loss coach, a doctor or dietician. In the link between the body and the mind (the physical vs mental), I concentrate on the mind to facilitate your journey to a healthier you. It is not unusual when looking at any change in our life , that negative thoughts arise about ourselves, the people in our life, our upbringing, or our beliefs. The change can make us feel scared about how it will impact all areas of our life (relationships, work, family, friendships...). To not fall back into old habits it is advised to untangle all those new thoughts and emotions.

Sessions are mainly online or face-to-face at YourHealthyBody Clinic(Radius Medical Centre, Albany Creek) on Wednesdays. If you suffer from a medical condition (diabetes, high cholesterol, blood pressure issues …) it is highly advised to enlist the help of a GP, Nurse, Nutritionist as well as a Counsellor.  The clinic offers all those services. With so much pressure on parents on how to raise a child and how to function as a family, it can bring a lot of stress and have a huge impact on mental health.  There is a great deal of information available, at times conflicting ones, on parenting but not so much on looking after yourself as a parent.  Self-care for parents is very important.  To take the analogy of the aviation emergency procedure , you need to fit your own mask first.  I focus on you, I help you manage the stresses and feelings parenthood bring to the surface. I will provide you with tools you need to overcome personal  challenges. By reducing your stress and worries you become more confident, compassionate and emotionally available and you offer the best role-model to your child(ren).

Your child mental health brings you stress and anxiety that enter other areas of your life.  The family unit and your confidence as a parent are disrupted bringing issues with your spouse, partner, other family members, friends or even colleagues. You feel like no one understand what it's like for you.  Anyone from people you know to health professionals your child sees, give you advice.  Everyone seems to have an opinion on what you should do or not do in regards to your child.  You feel constantly criticised for your parenting. You stop telling others about your child's issue and you become isolated.

You feel alone when your child is in crisis. When your child is having a good day, you stay anxious, still on alert, waiting for the next crisis when your child will need you. A little thing done or said makes you feel it will all start again.  The sound of a text or message makes you think it is from your child that needs you once again. You feel you can't progress in your life and aspirations. If you  have a partner or spouse you don't feel you can give anything emotional to the relationship.  At work you can't take a new role or job as you cannot be fully available. You don't dare to have some time for you as any enjoyment makes you feel selfish.  Your other children are not given as much attention, you feel you are demanding a lot of understanding from them to manage their sibling's issue, you feel guilty.

Together we will explore all those feelings .  Session with me will be a  time for you, to remember who you are and feel confident as a parent. You are no longer alone.
